Do I need a Care Team?
Building your care team is one of the most important things you can do as a person with Parkinson's. Your care team might not only include your Parkinson's doctor but other professionals such as a physical therapist, occupational therapist or speech therapist. Other professionals on your care team may include a fitness trainer, counselor, social worker, support group leader, caregiver, family and friends. We are fortunate that Orange County is home to many excellent professionals in the Parkinson's community. We want to help you build your Parkinson's care team by introducing you to these professionals. Check out our support services page to find specialists in the Orange County area. For specialists, in other areas of the country, visit the Parkinson & Movement Disorder Alliance Medical Network page. They have a thorough list of PD specialists around the nation.
It is equally important that you feel comfortable with the people on your care team. Not every boxing coach, or therapist or support group is a good fit for every person. You can get to know more about some of the Parkinson's leaders in Orange County on our blog.
